* There are many reasons for kids to become involved in the martial arts, including self-defense, competition, confidence, respect, discipline, and focus. The American Taekwondo Association has developed a program based on these needs and traditional Taekwondo skills for kids, called Karate for Kids. The K4K system is designed for children above the age of five, and is based on a lifetime learning concept in addition to technical skills. These different colored links are rewarded for outstanding performance in taekwondo class, school, home or at an event or tournament competition.
